Pull on pant with elastic waist and fly front, a nice stretchy fit for movement, if you prefer your baselayers looser, size up. The midweight fabric is heavy enough to wear under shorts for late season running as well as under your winter ski pants when the snow flies. One of the nicer features of these baselayer pants is they’re washable and machine dryable, although the manufacturer does recommend hang drying to maintain the fabric for the greatest possible longevity. The washability is a feature to be considered if you’re buying for an active teen or sportsman, where they’re more likely to appreciate the easy care properties of a synthetic baselayer over the care required of a wool baselayer. You do end up washing a synthetic more often than you do a wool, but you don’t have to worry about it going through the wrong wash cycle.
